KOREAN SOCIENTY OF VETERINARY OPHTHALMOLOGY

Bylaws of the Korean Society of Veterinary Ophthalmology

(Name)Article 1

This society shall be called the Korean Society of Veterinary Ophthalmology (KSVO).

(Objective)Article 2

The purpose of this society is to promote research in veterinary ophthalmology, disseminate its findings, and contribute to the advancement of veterinary ophthalmology.

(Business)Article 3

The society shall conduct the following activities to achieve the objectives outlined in Article 2:
  • (1) Holding academic conferences
  • (2) Organizing academic training sessions
  • (3) Publishing the journal "Veterinary Ophthalmology Research"
  • (4) Fostering talent through the "Ophthalmology Society Specialist System"
  • (5) Other activities necessary to achieve the society's objectives

(Membership)Article 4

The membership of the society shall consist of regular members, student members, honorary members, and supporting members.
  • (1) Regular members are those interested in veterinary ophthalmology research who have paid their annual membership fees. Regular members shall receive the society’s journal and may present their research at academic conferences and in the journal.
  • (2) Student members are full-time graduate students with an interest in veterinary ophthalmology research who have paid their annual membership fees. Student members shall receive the society’s journal and may present their research at academic conferences and in the journal.
  • (3) Honorary members are those who have made significant contributions to the advancement of veterinary ophthalmology. They are recommended by the board and approved by the general assembly. Honorary members receive the society’s journal and may present their research but are not required to pay annual membership fees.
  • (4) Supporting members are individuals or organizations that support the society’s objectives and have paid supporting membership fees. They are entitled to receive the society’s journal.

(Membership Admission)Article 5

Those wishing to join the society must submit a completed application form along with the required admission and annual membership fees.

(Loss of Membership)Article 6

Members shall lose their membership status if they meet any of the following conditions:
  • (1) Voluntary resignation
  • (2) Non-payment of membership fees for more than two years
  • (3) Expulsion due to actions that tarnish the reputation of the society, as decided by the board of directors

(Membership Fees)Article 7

The membership admission and annual fees shall be determined by the bylaws.

(Officers)Article 8

The society shall have the following officers:
  • (1) One President
  • (2) One Vice-President
  • (3) One General Secretary
  • (4) One Academic Affairs Chair
  • (5) Several Directors
  • (6) One Auditor
  • (7) Several Advisors

(Election of officers)Article 9

The president shall be elected by the board of directors and approved by the general assembly.

Article 10

The vice-president, general secretary, and academic affairs chair shall be selected from among the directors, as appointed by the president.

Article 11

Directors and the auditor shall be elected at the general assembly.

Article 12

Advisors shall be appointed by the board of directors and approved by the general assembly.

(Duties and Terms of Officers)Article 13

The president shall represent the society and, together with the vice-president and directors, organize the board of directors to manage society affairs.
The president may establish committees with the approval of the board of directors if necessary.
Committee members shall be appointed by the president from among the members with the approval of the board of directors.

Article 14

The vice-president shall assist the president and act on behalf of the president in the event of the president's absence.

Article 15

The general secretary, under the president’s direction, shall oversee the overall administrative duties of the society. The vice-president may hold this position concurrently.

Article 16

The academic affairs chair shall prepare academic conferences and publish the journal "Veterinary Ophthalmology Research."

Article 17

Directors shall form the board of directors and execute the business of the society.

Article 18

The auditor shall audit the society's accounts and may attend board meetings to express opinions.

Article 19

All officers shall serve a term of three years and may be reappointed only once.

(Board of Directors)Article 20

The board of directors shall be convened by the president or upon the request of at least one-third of the directors. The board is considered valid with the presence of a majority of its members and shall decide on the following matters:
  • (1) Election of the president
  • (2) Agenda items for the general assembly
  • (3) Matters concerning membership fees and their collection
  • (4) Membership admissions and expulsions
  • (5) Matters concerning the operation of the society
  • (6) Advisory matters from committees
  • (7) Other necessary matters

(Execution of Society Affairs)Article 21

The president shall be responsible for executing society affairs, and together with the directors, shall manage general affairs, accounting, education, the society’s journal, planning, international conference relations, and the certification system. The directors shall carry out these tasks and report to the general assembly.

(General Assembly)Article 22

The types, methods of convening, and resolutions of the general assembly are as follows:
  • (1) The general assembly shall consist of regular and extraordinary meetings.
  • (2) The president shall convene the regular general assembly once a year.
  • (3) The president shall convene an extraordinary general assembly when deemed necessary by the board of directors.
  • (4) Resolutions of the general assembly shall be passed by a majority of the members present.

Article 23

The general assembly shall deliberate on the following matters:
  • (1) Approval of business plans and budgets
  • (2) Approval of business reports and financial statements
  • (3) Election and dismissal of officers
  • (4) Amendments to the bylaws
  • (5) Other matters deemed necessary by the board for the general assembly’s deliberation

(Journal)Article 24

The society’s journal shall publish the latest knowledge and research in ophthalmology, as well as the society’s bylaws, member affiliations, and addresses. A directory of KSVO members shall be published once a year.

(Fiscal Year)Article 25

The fiscal year of the society shall be from January 1 to December 31.

(Addendum)Article 1

The society’s secretariat shall be located at the office of the responsible director. These bylaws shall come into effect from the day they are approved by the regular general assembly.

Article 2

The membership admission fee for regular members shall be ₩100,000, and the annual fee shall be ₩100,000. For student members, the fee shall be half of that for regular members. Officers shall pay an annual fee of ₩200,000. Honorary members are exempt from admission and annual fees. Supporting members are also exempt from the admission fee but shall pay an annual fee of ₩3,000,000. Once paid, membership fees are non-refundable.
